Lower Health Insurance Coverage And Economy Are Linked

Posted by Ethan Kalvin on January 5th, 2009

In 2007, more Americans had health insurance than 2006. But what’s the outlook for 2008? Not good, says a report from the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI).

The EBRI report detailed that the number of Americans covered by employer health plans will clearly decrease, but the number of Americans who have picked up their own health insurance coverage has risen significantly.

Americans were buying their own health insurance plans more and more frequently this past year, according to a report by the Kansas City Star. They state that the past year’s economy combined with lower unemployment rates, contributed to the ability of more workers to purchase their own plans.

With today’s economic situation becoming more dire by the day, unemployment is rising. And the ability of workers to purchase their own health care coverage is clearly waning.

Family budgets are being strained at every turn. It is no surprise that health coverage is one of the first things to be cut, considering the high cost of gasoline and food.

Auto Insurance: Why Acquiring it is so Important

Posted by Frank Rodriguez on January 4th, 2009

If you are driving a car, you better have car insurance. If you get into an accident and it is your fault, you are responsible for any and all damage that is done to property and other people. If you have no insurance you could get sued and lose everything you own.

In most states it is a law that you must carry auto insurance. In fact you cannot get license plates for your car without proof of insurance. If you get pulled over without proof of insurance you may just get a ticket. Sometimes they will drop the ticket if you show the court that you did get insurance.

There are many types of auto insurance policies that you can purchase. Each policy has different coverage options. You can get what many call PLPD which covers everything but your car if you are the cause of an accident, and people who have little money or a car that they call a Junker will often get this. It is considered the state minimum in most states.

Full coverage is what you would get if you have a new car or are still paying for the car. If you were to get into an accident and you totaled the car, and you owed a balance on it, the insurance would cover the cost of the car. This also would give you money towards another car, and often covers for a rental car depending on the options you choose.

Older cars can be harder to insure, I am talking about the old classics that you restore, the reason is they do not have all of the safety features that the modern cars do, and the parts are often harder to find and cost more. A brand new car may cost more at first because of replacement value, but as they depreciate so will the auto insurance.

You can also save on your car insurance premiums if you obtain your insurance policy at a company that you already have insurance through such as life insurance, home owners insurance, or other car insurance. You can save money by having multiple policies with one insurance company.

Sports cars can cost more to insure, because they have more power. It costs more to insure new drivers. If you are a good driver with a clean driving record that you’re insurance should go down as your policy continues. Be sure to search around for the best coverage for your money.

Car Insurance Is Available Online

Posted by Guest on January 3rd, 2009

Before getting an online auto insurance policy, there may be a few facts about this seemingly cheaper coverage you need to be aware of. Auto insurance is required for drivers in most states in the USA; however, the enforcement requirements do vary from one state to another. It is quite important to you to have a familiar understanding of the auto insurance regulations under which your state operates.

It is best for you to familiarize yourself with the related terms and conditions of this type of insurance coverage if you are about to get auto insurance for the first time.

Knowledge of the types of insurance coverage such as liability, coverage for uninsured drivers, and collision coverage and their related factors will help you purchase the cheapest online car insurance.

Liability auto insurance is a term that will frequently be used when you look for insurance for your car. The policy holder is covered by liability coverage against any claims made against the policy and anyone else who drives the insured vehicle if this person is not living at the same address as the policy holder. People who live at the same address as the policy holder have to be specifically added to the policy’s coverage. The injured party is provided with liability coverage for damages of a fixed dollar amount, there is combined single limit coverage or split limits coverage.

One policy covers both property damage liability coverage and bodily injury coverage under the combined single limit policy. Property damage coverage and bodily injury coverage will be covered seperately by split liability coverage under the split limits policy.

Uninsured driver insurance was introduced to make sure the injured party is insured in the event that the party at fault has no insurance coverage. Your insurance company becomes the insurance company for the person who is at fault in an accident when you have uninsured driver coverage on your auto policy.

Collision auto insurance coverage is something that has to be decided upon while buying the insurance for your automobile. This policy term will pay for repairs in the event where your vehicle is damaged in an accident. If the vehicle cannot be repaired, you will be awarded the current cash value of it by the collision coverage policy. Collision coverage is optional, it is not a mandatory part of insurance coverage, but it can be beneficial when it is time for you to take care of damage repair or replacement.

As you are attempting to find the cheapest online auto insurance, you will come into contact with some different terms, policies, and concepts. If you do not have the correct knowledge about these policies, terms, and concepts you will not understand which type of coverage is best for you and you will have a hard time deciding which ones you need to get. It is helpful for you to know something about the various terms and policies related to your vehicle insurance.

Car insurance is a necessity of driving, but the protection it offers to drivers is definitely worth it.

After all, it´s in your interest not to pick the first offer you find but look for the best one instead. If they want you as a client, insurers should offer low prices and great service.

Here are some tips to help you find the best and cheapest auto insurance quotes:
Know what are the requirements according to the state´s law: for example, in some states, you need to have a minimum liability coverage, which deals with the damages even if you´re the one at fault.

There are a lot of states that have this no-fault system and sometimes they only cover passengers as an option. In other states, even car damage coverage can be optional.

Make a profile with all the needed information, like who drives the car, where they drive it, what type of vehicle it is, where you live, what safety features there are in the car and what your driving record is. This will make it much easier to get quotes.

Other Essential Parameters:

- Reading the fine print is very important, as it allows you to find out the answer to some of your questions.

- Don´t put your policy away and forget about it. Talk to the insurer and keep your policy up to date. Tell your agent when things change and see if you can get some extra discounts.

Selecting the period of the policy: the policy will cover you for its entire duration. You choose the time when you sign the contract.

In most cases, these auto insurance policies are made for half a year or a full year. But, you can also buy insurance for a smaller or longer period of time. In most cases, if you buy for a longer period of time you will need to have lower premiums. That´s because companies save money with them and they can offer you discounts.

Before it expires, you can decide to cancel your insurance at any point. But you will have to go through some procedures before you do that.

Ideas To Ensure You Have Your Auto Insurance Costs

Posted by Ron George on January 3rd, 2009

Many times, when people are in the passion of purchasing a new car, they forget to calculate the cost of the auto insurance policy they will need to safeguard their new ride. This can put people under financial stress because they are time and again stretched to the very limits of their monthly budget for the car payment, neglecting to add in the outlay of their car insurance premiums.

It is extremely essential these days to include a first-class automobile insurance policy. Being protected is important for two primary reasons. It is lawfully obligatory in virtually every state and province in the US and Canada, but also since it protects persons from a disastrous financial situation, should a major accident transpire that causes property damage and/or bodily injury.

In addition, when the purchase of a new vehicle is being financed by way of a bank or finance company, that the buyer has complete comprehensive auto insurance on the vehicle, on top of the liability insurance. These policies will serve to protect the welfare of the lender until the loan is paid off and the title is changed over to the name of the purchaser.

Here are the distinct components to a general auto insurance policy. The most important aspects of the vehicle insurance policy contain liability coverage, which is the negligible insurance most states expect a driver to carry, collision coverage, comprehensive coverage, personal injury protection, medical cost coverage, accidental death benefits, property damage coverage, and uninsured or under insured motorist coverage. It is valuable to understand these various types of coverage in order to effectively compare auto insurance rates.

Liability insurance is the most basic type of coverage and is also the most general, because it is necessary by regulation in most states in order for a driver to be considered satisfactorily covered. A liability policy gives coverage for property destruction and bodily harm to others that is caused by the driver carrying such coverage. It does not encompass losses that the driver incurs, but only the losses that additional parties suffer as the end result of an accident that was the responsibility of the covered driver.

Collision coverage will help you to fix any damage to the driver’s vehicle as the result of a fender-bender. Comprehensive automobile insurance will protect the individual carrying such a policy against other types of loss too, such as theft, damage caused by floods and storms, falling objects, explosions, earthquakes, riots and other such events. Some comprehensive coverage will additionally include reimbursement for lost wages as a result of an mishap.

It is a good idea to either do some online research for automobile insurance quotes on the make and model of the car you are thinking about buying, or give a call to your insurance agent, before signing any paperwork and finalizing the purchase.Their insurance company can quickly tell them what their new auto insurance rates will be for the car they are considering. This will help them stay within their budget and help them to get around getting into a financial bind.

Homeowners Insurance & Rental Insurance Usefulness

Posted by Fred Sykes on January 2nd, 2009

If you own a home you should have home owners insurance. If you rent your home, you should have renters insurance. If you do not insure your home and its contents, you could lose it in the event of a tragedy, or at the hands of a burglar, or due to a natural disaster.

Many people think that this will not happen to me, but it can, and if you are not insured, you will lose what you had. If you are buying a home you are required to have homeowners insurance. If you are renting your home, many landlords require it as they do not want to be responsible for your personal property in the event of a fire, or other disaster.

If you have a collection of Fine Art or Expensive Jewelry, and you do not have the right home insurance policy you could very well lose your whole investment. You may not be able to get what you have lost back, but you can at least get the replacement value so that you can at least gain your investment back. I would also invest in a fire proof safe for things that are of sentimental value as well as worth money.

Do not leave things to chance whether you are a home renter or a home owner. Be prepared for the unexpected. You can help to lower insurance rates by having an alarm system, updated windows and doors with good locks. Having smoke detectors and fire extinguishers also is a help. Insure for the price to rebuild your home and replace its contents.

Often if you have one insurance company to cover all of your needs such as Auto, Home and Life, you can get a bigger discount. Be sure to shop around. Make sure to get appraisals and keep receipts for all purchases you make so that they can be presented to the insurance company. These should be kept in a fire-proof lock box or safe.

Make sure that your insurance covers replacement costs of all personal property and for home owners the cost of rebuilding your home. The land does not need to be covered. If you have other insurance through a company you often can get a discount by adding other types of insurance through them such as Life and Auto. Insurance is your safety net. You need it whether you are renting or buying your home, or even if you own it outright. You do not want to end up homeless, and without clothes, or furniture to fill another home if you are renting. There are things that can never be replaced such as your memories, and things that had sentimental value, but you can be prepared to make a fresh start if you need to.

Holiday Home Insurance: How to choose the best cover

Posted by David Ball on January 1st, 2009

People often buying a second home or holiday home in Europe or the UK are usually offered insurance cover by a broker, insurer or their foreign agent or notary. It may well be far too easy to say “yes”, but the policy they offer you may not be suitable for you due to the particular requirements needed for a second home or holiday home.

With the inherent risks of owning a holiday home in the UK or abroad being substantially greater than that of your main residence, there is a real need for holiday homes insurance policy written in plain English which pays particular attention to the special requirements for second homes and which also provides a wide band of cover.

Not every property has a swimming pool. Certain features are considered to be of vital importance, and therefore overseas home insurance cover for loss of use, legal liability for domestic staff, public liability and accidental damage to domestic supplies should be included as standard. Your holiday property insurance should also ensure that all local taxes on overseas properties are included within the premium. Buildings and Contents cover should be flexible so that owners do not end up paying for cover that they do not need.

The true value of any insurance is however only fully appreciated when a claim is made. Holiday home owners who own a property overseas and have overseas holiday home insurance should be spared the difficulties of discussing their claim with a foreign agent via a continental telephone call, and should be able to speak directly to experienced English staff that will provide assistance and be fully responsible for liaising with the overseas loss adjusters.

You might think that the best thing to go for is cheap holiday home insurance, but you really need to ask yourself whether you are really that well covered with the cheapest policy? Although low premium rates are often of importance, the overseas house insurance cover should be simple to understand, offer a high level of security and in the event of a claim a satisfactory result.

Using an insurance agent who does not specialize in, or fully understand the requirements of your holiday home or let property, you may find that you do not have adequate cover to fully protect your holiday home. It is essential that you get the correct property insurance to suit the specialized requirements needed for your holiday home. You must get specialist overseas holiday property insurance. And you must get insurance for buildings and contents designed exclusively for properties used as holiday homes or let for holiday use.

What restrictions are in place when letting and un-occupancy etc? Do you have cover for legal liability for domestic employees? And most important of all what do you do in the event of a claim? As an owner of a holiday home abroad, it is vital that you fully understand the extent and limitations of your insurance policy.

If your holiday home insurance policy has been placed through an insurance agent in the following countries: UK, Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Cyprus Greece, Ireland, Malta, Monaco or Andorra , it is more likely that they have not informed you and that you simply do not know.
